MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - New Memphis Grizzlies head coach David Fizdale isn't shying away from recent social issues. In fact, he says he's looking forward to using his position to effect change.
In an interview with Marc Spears of The Undefeated.com, Fizdale talks about the recent violence involving law enforcement and his own experiences growing up in Los Angeles.
The Grizzlies bench boss said he was profiled by police and numerous friends and family members, including his grandfather, were victims of gun violence.
Fizdale, who is biracial, said he wants to use his platform as an NBA head coach to help underprivileged young people of color and find ways to stop gun violence.
