MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department said a young man was shot multiple times while playing basketball outside a community center.

The shooting happened near the Raleigh Community Center on Power Road around 9:15 p.m.

Investigators began investigating the shooting as the 129th homicide in Memphis, but when the victim arrived at Methodist North Hospital, doctors were able to bring the man back to life. However, he died overnight at the hospital.

Col. James Kirkwood urged anyone with information to call MPD at 901-545-2677(COPS). No arrests have been made in his death.

He went on to say enough is enough.

"We're asking everyone to pray for the family, because this is a terrible tragedy," Kirkwood said. "We've got to come together as a city. You can't stay silent. You've got to come out and you've got to lift your voices together and let it be known that these kinds of acts we don't like in our communities."
