Big 12 coaches weigh in on expansion

DALLAS, TX (WMC) - Big 12 expansion talk continues, and if you go by the league's coaches, Memphis would be in IF the Big 12 decides to add four teams.

ESPN conducted an anonymous survey of the 10 Big 12 coaches on who they would like see added to the league.

Topping the list, Houston and BYU each of which got 5 votes, while Memphis and Cincinnati tied for third with 4 votes apiece.

David Boren, the chairman of the Big 12 board of directors, said conference expansion by both two schools and four schools will be on the table.
If they go with four, it could mean big problems for the American Conference.

With the exception of BYU and Colorado State, all of the candidates being looked at seriously are members of the American Athletic Conference.
To exit the American, members must provide 27 months' notice and pay a $10 million exit fee.
