MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Memphis Police Department is searching for three men accused of robbing a convenience store at gunpoint.
Surveillance video of the incident on July 19 shows the men run into Flash Market on Getwell Road just before 2 a.m. The men jumped over the counter and held the clerk at gunpoint, demanding money.
The video shows three people, two wearing what appears to be scarves over their heads, robbing the gas station clerk at gunpoint.
"Savages yes," customer Jasmine Bonie said when she saw the video.
One at a time the three men jump the counter. One of them points a gun at the clerk and walks him out of the camera's field of vision.
Investigators said the men stole $60 in cash, lottery tickets, cigarettes, and cigars.
"Its crazy you have people who work hard every day for what they have--to be robbed at gunpoint it's sad," Bonie said.
"I'm shocked, because I come up here a lot and I've never seen any suspicious activity," customer Anthony Phillips said.
Phillips said he comes to the gas station at night all the time. He said the bulletproof glass protecting the clerk is always closed. However, it was not closed during the robbery.
The store's manager said the glass is usually closed at night, but that night the clerk did not close it. It's not clear why.
The manager said the employee is physically OK, but he has since quit working at the store.
Anyone with information that could help police identify and locate these criminals should call MPD at 901-545-COPS.
