MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The #SafeSummer series of anti-violence block parties continued Friday at Gaston Community Center in South Memphis.

The party featured a petting zoo complete with donkeys, horses, ducks and llamas--a learning opportunity many inner-city children might not otherwise experience.

The series is hosted by promoter Artemis "Peppamouth of the South" Williams and sponsored by several community agencies including Operation: Safe Community, Memphis Police Department, Shelby County Sheriff's Office and many others.

The events are free and include food, music, train rides, bounce houses, and other family entertainment.

The series continues through August 5, culminating in Frayser.
