MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man is in jail, accused of shooting and killing a man in Northaven.

Police said Cedricus Carter, 31, is responsible for shooting and killing Andre Williams on July 14.

According to the police report, Carter, known as “Mac Pooh,” went to help a friend, Chaya Woods, find her missing fiancé, Charles Birt.

Police said Carter confronted Birt’s best friend, Andre Williams, asking if he knew where Birt was. Williams said he didn’t know where Birt was.

Woods told police Carter asked Williams where he was and Williams told Carter that he was in the Northaven area.

According to police, Woods told officers Carter got a gun and went to Northaven to confront Williams.

Police interviewed another witness whose story was the same as Chaya Woods. Both Woods and the witness positively identified Carter, who they knew as “Mac Pooh,” from his Facebook page.

Officers ran Carter’s name and found out he had warrants in Anchorage, Alaska.

Investigators ran Carter’s phone number and found out he was in the area at the time of Williams’ killing.

Carter was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

Woods was also arrested after police said she initially gave out false information.

Police said Charles Birt was found by family and friends on July 15.
