BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA (WMC) - A Memphis native, now living in Baton Rouge, took his barbecue-cooking skills to the streets to help victims of historic flooding.
Jack Koban is part of a 15-year Memphis In May BBQ contest team called Magically Piglicious.
Friday, Koban joined up with his Louisiana teammates, friends, and coworkers to cook 24 pork shoulders. The group then distributed the meat to shelter volunteers, medical staff, military personnel, and families who lost their homes.
Magically Piglicious isn't the only Memphis In May team to do their part. A coalition of 15 teams called Operation BBQ Relief brought tens of thousands of meals to flood-ravaged areas in Louisiana.
Koban added that he was lucky--his family does not live an area affected by floods. However, he said many people still need more help.
