As a proud graduate of Central High School, it's a blessing to watch my former classmates grow and prosper in their lives.

My fellow Warrior, Tammy Groves Thornton, has from a young age followed her love for the arts. She thinks of her art as a catalyst of change; inspiring, uplifting, and encouraging the spirit and the heart to love.

Recently, Groves Thornton was asked by Hope Church to showcase her artwork for the next six months. She has been the artist painting at Hope Church during the Stirring service (Sunday's at 5:30 p.m.).

Tammy Groves Thornton is an artist from Memphis, TN. She grew up in North and Midtown. She graduated from the University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. She set out to change the world with her love and compassion and desire to help make the world a better place.

As a child she loved to paint and create. She loved the use of bright, vibrant colors as they electrified visually and drew you into the stories being told on canvas. Earlier in life, she was drawn to watercolor because of its fluidity and luminosity. Later, a love for bold, rich colors was awakened through the use of acrylics on canvas and it has been a burning love ever since, which is likely why her favorite artist is Romero Britto.

The busy wife and mother of three recently spoke with me and said, "I believe that everything in life depends on your perspective. It is ultimately how you look at things, how you look at people, and how you look at the world."

Lastly, 2016 has been a phenomenal year for Groves Thornton. She authored and published several Art Therapy Coloring Books, 'My Happy Place' and 'Happy Days'. Both are available on Amazon.
