Friday Football Fever is back for Week 2! We had a great slate of games this week. Here are some of the highlights:

Briarcrest 37, St. George’s 14

The opening kickoff went into the hands of Quinshon Wooten, who made a few quick moves and took it to the house for the 7-0. St. George’s on top.

The Saints got onto the board late in the first when Charles Elliott took a handoff, broke a tackle, and found the endzone for a 37 yard touchdown.

Ridgeway 38, Southwind 8

Ridgeway kicked off the scoring when running back Cameron Stansberry found a hole and busted a run to the house. A two-point conversion took the score to 8-0.

On the ensuing kickoff, Ridgeway recovered a fumble. Then, it was Stansberry again for a touchdown. The two-pointer was good once again, and Ridgeway went up 16-0. They’d go on to win in a blowout.

Germantown 45, St. Benedict 0

Germantown took a 31-0 lead into the half, and things only got worse for the Eagles from there.

Germantown QB Miles Guyton found his man in Cameron Tewari for a big first down in the third. From there, Kameron Walker went in for the score from 19 yards out to top off the blowout.

Southaven 27, Trezevant 26

In Southaven, the Chargers welcomed the defending state champion Trezevant Bears across the state line.

Early on, Sammy Swing took a keeper around the left side, almost making his way to the endzone before being tackled just short of the goal line. Swing was injured on the play, and his replacement Twon Johnson picked up the pieces for a touchdown that put the score at 7-6 Southaven.

Southaven would come back gunning when quarterback Marselilius Vaughn found Brandin Echols in the flat. Echols would hit a spin move and make his way to the 18 yard line.

Vaughn would follow with a keeper for six, extending the Chargers lead to 14-6.

The Bears would come back with an option sweep by Johnson for another touchdown to make it 14-12.

The two teams would battle the rest of the way, with Chargers taking the win.

Horn Lake 56, Kirby 14

Down in Horn Lake, the Eagles welcomed the Kirby Cougars.

The Eagles took a shot to Tyler Grim who ran 45 yards to paydirt to put Horn Lake up 14-6.

The Eagles were just getting started. Later on, they found Senior Peyton Logan with a handoff for another touchdown and a two-point conversion on a swing pass to Kevin Phillips to put Horn Lake up 22-6.

Hernando 49, Westwood 0

Over in Hernando, the Tigers hosted the Westwood Longhorns and they didn’t waste any time getting to the action.

First play of the game, Robert Wilcke found O.D. Wooten with a deep toss to put Hernando up 7-0.

Then, on Westwood’s first play from scrimmage, they rule the pass a lateral, and it’s scooped up by linebacker Jonathan Burt to put Hernando up 14-0.

Hernando finished Westwood off with the blowout.

DeSoto Central 16, White Station 7

In Midtown, they got the scoring out of the way early.

With DeSoto Central up 16-7 in the fourth, White Station kicker Micah Breckenridge hit the crossbar on a 40 yard field goal attempt.

They’d get another shot when Spartan RB Trevor Forbes found a gap and ran 20 yards to the Jaguars’ 35. A few plays later in the red zone, White Station QB Drew Lyons was picked off by London Bowers to seal a Jaguars win.
