DURANT, MS (WMC) -

A man was arrested in connection to the murder of two nuns in Mississippi.

Rodney Earl Sanders, 46, was arrested and charged with two counts of capital murder.

Sister Margaret Held and Sister Paula Merrill, two nuns in Holmes County, Mississippi, were found dead inside their home Thursday.

“Sanders was developed as a person of interest early on in the investigation,” Mississippi Bureau of Investigation Director Lt. Colonel Jimmy Jordan said. “With the cooperation of the Durant and Kosciusko Police Departments, Holmes County Sheriff’s Department and the Attorney General Office, this heinous crime has been resolved.”

MBI officials were able to determine Sanders as the suspect after an investigation. He is being held in an undisclosed detention center waiting for his court appearance.
