The list of 20 schools actively seeking admission to the Power 5 Conference is reportedly being cut down Monday.
Jed DeMuesy, of Cincinnati TV Station WKRC, tweeted that the University of Cincinnati made the cut.
Source: Today (Monday) the Big 12 will announce they have narrowed down their list of teams they're considering. UC will be on the list.— Jed DeMuesy (@Local12Jed) August 29, 2016
However, DeMuesy quickly went back on his tweet, saying he was wrong.
Doesn't look like that Big 12 info will be released publicly today, or tomorrow for that matter. Info I got was wrong, I was wrong.— Jed DeMuesy (@Local12Jed) August 30, 2016
The Dallas Morning News reported the League has completed its initial interviews with hopefuls, including the University of Memphis.
BYU is getting a push from former presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who is an alumni, and Houston just got a $20 million individual gift to its athletic department.
The Big 12 Board of Directors will meet again on October 19, but there is no timetable for a final announcement on when, how many teams, or if the League will go through with expansion.
