With game week finally here for Mid-South college football fans, no one is more ready to get the season started than Mike Norvell and the Memphis Tigers.
Norvell, holding his first pre-game news conference as a college head coach, said he's spent since December 4, the date of his hiring at the U of M, working to build the trust of his players.
He's also used that time to get to know his team. It's a team that made national headlines last season by climbing as high as 13th in the College Football Playoff Poll, before faltering at the end of the year.
"Our players have put in a tremendous amount of work," Norvell said. "Whether it was winter conditioning, spring practice, the commitment they've made to each other and this team, going through our summer training, going through a remarkable fall camp of continuing to build a relationships. Getting ready to go out there and take the field at the Liberty Bowl."
Tigers host SEMO Saturday 6 p.m. at the Liberty Bowl.
