MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Tropical Storm Hermine will likely strengthen to a hurricane on Thursday night. It is expected to make landfall in the Big Bend, Florida area around 9 pm and will cause heavy rain and gusty winds for many parts of northeast Florida through Friday morning.

Florida will have threats of flooding and damaging wind gusts through early Friday morning. Cities impacted includes Tampa, Tallahassee and Jacksonville.

After moving through Florida, it will weaken and push into southern Georgia as a tropical storm on Friday morning. On Friday evening, Hermine will arrive in coastal South Carolina and then move through the North Carolina coast by Saturday morning.

Hermine could still be a weak tropical storm when it moves off the Delaware and New Jersey coast early Monday morning, but it will likely only increase rain chance slightly and cause a high rip current risk. No major impacts are expected in the northeast.

This will not have any impacts on the Mid-South, but your Labor Day travel plans could be impacted by this tropical system. If you're traveling to the Carolinas, heavy rain and dangerous rip currents will be possible on Friday and Saturday. Your Labor Day should be nicer on the east coast though as Hermine moves out to sea.
