MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

September 1—9/01—is the day Memphis celebrate pride for their city.

901 Day was packed full of fun events for people to celebrate in the Bluff City.

Memphians showed their pride all day by wearing their Memphis shirts and eating their favorite Memphis foods.

"Memphians are as good at celebrating their city as anybody in the world,” Luke Prewitt said.

901 Day is for all the things that are great about Memphis.

"I love the music. I love the food. I love the personalities,” Dominick Fragale said.

The organization Choose 901 celebrated the day with an outdoor party at Loflin Yard that consisted of a day full of music, food, and the best 901 merchandise.

"The change, everything you see going on down here--it's an exciting time to be in Memphis," Danielle John said.

Prewitt said by celebrating all the people find great about Memphis, it encourages people to work, live, and stay in the Bluff City.

"Folks will choose to stay, invest their lives in the city here, folks will move back to the city and move here for the first time,” Prewitt said.

Later in the day, the New Memphis Institute held an event called Exposure at AutoZone Park. The event celebrated all things Memphis and showcased more than 100 organizations in the city with the hope of getting people connected to local organizations.

"Plug into the city and see the wonderful things they can get involved with and find out what is happening," Megan Carolyn said.

A representative from New Memphis said there will be other events like Exposure within the year that will connect people to organizations that are about helping the city.
