MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A nationwide campaign to honor and support the lives shattered by addiction is coming to the Memphis area.

An "Addict's Mom" Lights of Hope 2016 ceremony will be held at Shelby Farms Patriot Lake on Saturday, September 10 starting at 1:30 p.m.

The Addict's Mom members hope the event highlights, among other issues, the lack of available resources specifically structured to care for, curtail, and combat addiction issues.

The group also campaigns for foundations, such as hospitals, to increase their efforts in treating those plagued by addition issues.

The Lights of Hope ceremony is also a chance for people to "step out of the shadows of shame and stigma and raise their voices as one by lighting three candles to spotlight September as National Recovery Month."

The candles represent active addicts, addicts in recovery and those who died from their addictions.

The Addict's Mom is a 75,000 strong Faceboook community where mothers of addicts can share their "hopes, fears and grief without shame."
