Scientists have found evidence of the Zika virus in tears.

The new research was conducted in mice, and will have to be replicated in humans before researchers can say for sure if this applies to people.

The study, done at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, could help doctors learn more about how the virus affects vision.

There is no evidence Zika can spread from person to person through tears.

The primary way the virus spreads is through mosquito bites.

The Zika virus can also be transmitted sexually.
