MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Law enforcement officials are investigating the disappearance of a 29-year-old woman. Police identified her as Keila Ashford Freeman.

Freeman went missing from the 4200 block of Meadow Ridge Trail. Memphis police officers are on the scene at this time gathering information about the missing woman.

Neighbors were shocked to learn of her disappearance.

"I was really shocked when I got home from work and saw all of the police cars," neighbor Mary Lynn Caldwell said. "I'm glad that they're that concerned."

Investigators said it's too early to tell what happened.

"Sometimes people do just up and leave," Colonel Marcus Worthy said. "We don't know if that's the case or not."

Neighbors said Freeman lives at the home with her husband and two children.

"She was with her parents over the weekend and once she returned home yesterday they haven't heard from her since," neighbor Latonya Herman said.

Investigators said they are working the scene as a missing persons case, but the homicide team has also been called in as a precaution.

"There are some things that are suspicious which is why we're working it the way we are because things weren't initially adding up," Worthy said.

Police on the scene said Freeman did not show up for work Tuesday.

"Her parents informed me that she was supposed to had left this morning at 2:00 in her car, but her car is under the garage," Herman said.

Neighbors are hoping for the best.

"I pray that she's at peace and I pray that she's OK," Herman said.
