Achievement School Districts holds back to school spectacular

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

On Saturday, faculty, students and parents rocked the Cannon Center for the Achievement School Districts 'Back to School Spectacular.'

There was a Disc Jockey, goody bags, student artwork showcased, school bands, singing, poetry, and lots of motivation for the 2016-2017 school year.

ASD is a state-created school district formed as part of Tennessee's Race to the top application. The goal of ASD is to bring the bottom five percent of low achieving schools to the top 25 percent in Tennessee.

Right now, there are 27 ASD schools in Memphis and two in Nashville.
