MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A former Mississippi State University employee has been indicted for embezzling state money.

State Auditor Stacey Pickering said Susan Holder, 63, surrendered herself to authorities on Friday, September 2.

Holder is accused of charging MSU for duplicate travel expenses. Investigators said she charged the school for $35,496.98 between September 2007 and October 2011.

“The misuse of public and private funds will not be tolerated," said Auditor Pickering. “Employees like Ms. Holder, who violate the public trust, will be held accountable for their actions.”

Holder was employed by MSU from 1991 until she was terminated on November 30, 2011.
