A Better Mid-South: Healthy schools

A Better Mid-South: Healthy schools
Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5:

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) - Living in the South, we get dumped on a lot for being too fat, too lazy, or not exercising enough.

Charjean Elementary School, Northwest Prep Academy, and Dyersburg Intermediate School made the list.

These schools either met or exceeded standards set by a program for serving healthier meals and snacks, getting students moving more, offering high-quality physical and health education, and empowering school leaders to become healthy role models.

Now that's something to get pumped up about.

How about we figure out what these schools are doing and duplicate those efforts across our schools?

It's a big goal, but we are up to it.

How do you think your school stacks up when it comes to health and fitness?  Email me at abettermidsouth.com or post on my Facebook page, A Better Mid-South.

Getting our students fit and healthy alongside giving them a strong education will make this a better and healthier Mid-South.
