MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

When I got the call, I could not wait to check it out. The newly renovated Midtown Soul Fish would open this weekend. I was invited to stop by and take a peek inside.  I had been told it would be bigger and have better parking, but that only scratches the surface of the remarkable difference.

I work in Midtown...and I eat lunch in Midtown. I eat at the Midtown Soul Fish once a week, at least.  I have missed it. Friday I decided to make the drive over and snap a few pictures for a digital story (this one).  I drove my familiar route, secretly hoping they might be cooking up some fish. Maybe I was lost in a fish fantasy...but I missed it. I mean, I drove right by it.  The place looks so different -- I literally drove by a place I have been a hundred times.  I turned back and slid into a parking place.  I noted the parking lot was spacious and paved.  I walked in and was greeted by staff preparing for the opening.  General Manager Claudia Klaus told me they would open at some point Friday.  She said the staff is excited to reopen and is ready to serve Midtown. The renovations took about a month.  Staff worked around the city at other Soul Fish locations while the work was underway.

The renovations include a much larger dining space inside and outdoor seating on a patio.  While it resembles other Soul Fish locations, it still has a Midtown feel.  The restaurant is very bright and spacious.  The front of the building is wall to floor windows.  It will be a big change from the from the little cement block eatery I was used to packing into for lunch.

The renovations include a lot of news things, but you will still find the same delicious menu and the some of the nicest people you'll ever meet.

See you there.
