MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The 27th Annual Southern Heritage Classic wrapped up, bringing in tens of thousands to Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium.

SHC officials stated this year’s attendance at the game reached to 46,263 fans. There were a total of 83 participating organizations as well.

“We are grateful to be able to consistently provide a quality event with several components that thousands of people continue to support after 27 years. We look forward to doing it for decades to come,” stated PR Director Jae Henderson.

SHC didn't break any records, but Henderson stated there were over 10,000 tailgaters in Tiger Lane and Tobey Park. All 500 tailgate spots were sold out 3 weeks before the big event.

“This isn't just our event. This is the City of Memphis' event and we are happy that we can give everyone something to be proud of and look forward to each year. The Classic has become a September tradition,” stated Henderson.

Next year’s Southern Heritage Classic weekend is set for September 7 through the 9.
