A teenager was arrested and charged with arson after a fire at the Bent Tree Apartments.

Just before 5 p.m. Saturday, emergency crews rushed to the apartment building on West Briarpark Loop, where they could see smoke and flames coming out of the building.

No firefighters or civilians were injured, but Red Cross did provide assistance for two families.

Two vacant apartments and four occupied apartments sustained smoke, fire, or water damage--resulting in a total of $105,000 in structural damage and $30,000 in damage to the contents of the apartments.

Fire investigators said the fire was intentionally set in one of the apartments. A teenager was arrested and charged with aggravated arson, but his name and age have not been revealed.

The apartments did not have a working smoke detector.
