MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A Shelby County Sheriff's deputy is out of jail and free on bond after investigators said he tried to extort money.

Jeremy Drewery is accused of trying to extort money from a suspected drug dealer.

Luck ran out for the professional poker player and sheriff's deputy Drewery when investigators said they received evidence that he pocketed drugs while executing a search warrant on August 3. He then, allegedly, told the suspected drug dealer he could guarantee freedom for $15,000.

Drewery is also a professional poker player.

While out of bond, Drewery has restricted travel, had to surrender his passport, and can not be in contact with firearms.
