MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Girls will get a chance to see what it's like to be a hero in the Memphis Fire Department.

September 24, 2016 is Hero Day! From 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. girls will get a chance to gear up and work along side the elite women and men of the Memphis Fire Department.

Any girl in grades 6-12 is eligible to attend. It costs $20 per girl; that fee includes lunch and a Hero Day bandana. Click here to register.

During the day, girls will rappel over the edge of a five-story building, climb a 30-foot aerial ladder, suit up in protective fire gear, put out a mock fire, and so much more.

Hero Day is presented by Girl Scouts: Heart of the South and put on with the help of Memphis Fire Department, Le Bonheur Children's Hospital, and the International Association of Fire Fighters
