MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis Fire Department said a house was intentionally set on fire on Modder Avenue early Thursday morning.

Just before 3 a.m., crews rushed to the home. MFD Spokesperson Lt. Wayne Cook said the fire was brought under control at about 3:05 a.m.

A Memphis Fire Department chief on the scene said someone did live inside the home, but they were not home at the time of the fire.

Fire investigators said the origin and cause of the fire was determined to be intentionally set on the front porch of the home. The home sustained thousands of dollars worth of damage.

MFD continues to investigate.
