Pink gloves and ponytails set number 44 apart from the rest of the Timbercolts J.V. football team, but she hustles just as hard.

Brielle Edmiston is the only girl on the football team, playing wide receiver and linebacker.

The Timbercolts are made up of players from St.Anne Catholic School and St. Francis Assisi.

The students merged from the two schools to make up the team, and this year they also have the only girl in their league on the squad.

"Blocking is really important when you are a wide receiver," said Edmiston.

The 5th grader is passionate about the sport, a passion sparked after watching the Buffalo Bills on Sundays with her grandfather.

“I want her to know she can do anything she wants to do," Brielle's mother, Suzan Tutko, said.

After two years of playing flag football, Edmiston was ready to play in full gear.

The school’s administration gave the okay, and now Vice Principal Joey Harris said Edmiston is teaching valuable lessons.

“If you set your mind to it, you can do anything you want to do," said Harris.

The Timbercolts lost against Holy Rosary, 8-6.
