A man is in custody after investigators learned he was trying to meet a minor for sex.

Oxford Police Department arrested Donald Barker, 26, when he pulled up to Oxford High School.

Investigators said a child's mother contacted a school resource officer when she found inappropriate messages on her child's phone.

Oxford police officers said they obtained the phone and Barker continued to send messages to it, thinking he was messaging the student.

"The conversation was really a slanky dirty," Lt. Chris Case said. "Started looking into it, contacted one of our school resource officers."

That resource officer works at Oxford High School, where the victim goes to school. Investigators said Barker kept texting the girl's phone asking to meet up for sex.

After officers texted Barker, pretended to be the victim, and agreed to meet with him, police said he went to the school.

Officers took Barker into custody when he arrived at the high school.

"Yeah, that's pretty scary," Tricia Williams said. "I had no idea that happened to be honest."

Investigators later found child pornography on Barker's computer. He's in jail on a $250,000 bond faces charges of enticement of a child and possession of child pornography.

Police said Barker moved to the Oxford area almost a year ago from California. At this point, they don't know why or what, if any, connection he has in Oxford. Police said he worked at a couple of restaurants, but it is unclear how he met the student.

But, officers credit the teen's mother with being vigilant and with Barker's arrest.
