MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

One of the prosecutors who helped convict Noura Jackson of killing her mother will now go to trial for ethics violations.

A motion to dismiss the case against Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Stephen P. Jones was denied.

Jones, along with District Attorney Amy Weirich, prosecuted Jackson for the murder of her mother. Jackson was found guilty of second-degree murder and served 11 years in prison.

In 2016, Jackson was released from prison after a retrial and an Alford Plea.

During Jackson's appeal, the Tennessee Supreme Court's board of professional responsibility said Jones failed to turn over vital evidence about an important witness.

Tennessee Supreme Court said it did not think Steve Jones purposely kept the conflicting statements from the defense.
