Almost two months after police say he broke into a home and held a knife to a woman while he raped her, a man is being charged with those crimes.

Memphis Police Department said William Morris is the man who committed the crimes. He was arrested Friday.

The attack left neighbors terrified. They were shocked when they learned that one of their neighbors was sleeping on the couch and woke up to a man holding a knife to her.

"It's really scary," Bobbie Crawford said.

Officers said Morris broke into the woman's home in Frayser in July while she was napping. They said Morris told her to give him her money. When she told him she didn't have any money to give him, Morris raped her.

Morris is charged with aggravated burglary and aggravated rape.

"It's a shame that you cannot be in your own home," Crawford said.

Crawford lives near where the attack took place and she said she is always looking over her shoulder.

"I have been robbed before," she said.

She said the after effects from a robbery alone can be long lasting.

"Everybody that passes you, you're scared because you don't know what they going to do to you," Crawford said.

She said she can't begin to understand what the victim is going through.

However, since her own run-in with being a crime victim, she has stepped up her own security--beginning with cameras.

"Makes me feel good now, because I can see around my house and who's coming in, out, whatever," she said.

Even with Morris behind bars on a $100,000 bond, Crawford isn't taking her safety lightly.

"It's going around everywhere, but I will tell women around here to be safe," Crawford said.
