DeSoto County deputies are searching for a man with a weapon suspected of robbing Citizens Bank and Trust Company on Highway 301 in Walls.

Deputies said a man in a grey sweatshirt and blue jeans robbed the bank.

Surveillance cameras caught him driving a motorcycle with a loud muffler and robbing the bank around 11 a.m. Wednesday.

FBI agents said the man was working alone and wore his helmet the entire time.

“Praise God that everybody's alright, and I'm glad I wasn't in there,” Stanley Davis said.

Davis said he’s been a customer at the bank for more than 30 years. He said he’s shocked by the crime.

“Man it just don't happen in Walls—a bank robber, somebody robbing a bank,” Davis said. “You know we're just a little country place.”

Deputies said the robber had a gun and demanded money from the bank. It is unclear whether the suspect got away with any cash.

“We are still in the investigative process,” DeSoto County Chief Deputy Macon Moore said. “We're interviewing witnesses, looking at video tape; hopefully we would be able to give a good description shortly."

Moore said that although no shots were fired, the crime reminds some DeSoto County residents of an unrelated incident where deputies were forced to shoot an armed man at the bank months ago—an incident which still has many people unnerved.

“Being robbed would put anyone on edge,” Moore said. “You know the situation that we had with one party several months back, he was not from this area.”

Both the DeSoto County Sheriff's Department and the FBI are investigating the Walls bank robbery.
