DENVER, CO (WMC) -

Who’s more patriotic?

Before the St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies played baseball Wednesday, they tried to out-Patriot each other with a good old fashioned National Anthem standoff.

Rockies’ Carlos Estevez and Cardinals’ Jose Martinez stayed on the field after the anthem continued, hats proudly displayed over their hearts, determined to be the last one on the field.

Cardinals players rushed out to help their guy feel comfortable, shining Martinez’s shoes and fanning him off with a towel.

Ultimately, the umpires forced the players off the field so the game would start, and it would be Estevez who flinched first.

Martinez and the Cardinals would claim victory in the National Anthem standoff.

The Rockies would get their revenge on the field, dominating in an 11-1 win.
