MPD: Man assaults girlfriend, attacks officers

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man is facing criminal charges after police said he assaulted his girlfriend and an officer.

The incident happened on Wednesday in the 8400 block of Preston Loop in the Villas of Cordova.

Police said the victim said she and her boyfriend, Markeseo Jackson, got into an argument about another woman texting his phone. The victim told Jackson to leave her apartment. Jackson left the apartment but left his keys behind.

Investigators said Jackson returned to the victim’s apartment. The victim said Jackson kicked the door in, causing $200 worth of damage, got his keys and left.

The victim said Jackson came back again and she let him inside the apartment to talk, according to the police report.

The victim said she and Jackson began to argue again, and he became very angry. She said he bumped her on the chest with his shoulder, backing her into the bathroom where she fell on the floor near the tub. She said she her purse containing her gun was on her shoulder. She told officers she ran out of the apartment once Jackson grabbed her purse.

Police said when they arrived, Jackson was in bed under the covers. He was pointing a gun at his own head but later threw it down.

Investigators said Jackson began to fight with officers, hitting one officer in the face and kicking him in the groin area.

According to police, officers had to pepper spray Jackson in order to arrest him.

Jackson is charged with domestic assault, simple assault, resisting arrest, and vandalism of $500 or less.
