MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The ringleader of a multimillion-dollar cocaine trafficking ring has been sentenced to federal prison.

The Department of Justice said Derrick Hester, 43, will spend 114 months in prison for his involvement as the mastermind of a massive cocaine ring in and around West Tennessee.

Federal investigators said Hester and other conspirators transported the cocaine from Texas to Memphis on a regular basis.

Investigators also said Hester was involved in a money laundering scheme. He made large deposits into SunTrust and Bank of America accounts through two companies invented to conceal his illegal activity.

Between September 2015 and 2016, 22 different people from Tennessee, Arkansas, Texas, and Michigan were convicted and sentenced to prison. Combined they will spend more than 120 years behind bars.
