A Germantown woman was taken advantage of while she was in a vulnerable state.

Police said two thieves took a woman's cell phone in a matter of seconds at Walgreens on Wolf River Boulevard and Germantown Road.

"Lowest of low," Carrie Crawford-Johnson said.

Johnson and her husband said she was unconscious when thieves took advantage of her. Germantown police said Johnson passed out due to a blood pressure problem. After viewing the store's security tape, the officer noticed the female suspect take Johnson's phone when she fell on the floor.

"The minute I hit the ground, this lady just reaches, swoops down, and picks up my phone and walks out the door," Johnson said. "I can't imagine someone trying to capitalize on someone's misfortune like that. You know, it's just, it's scary."

According to David Johnson, the victim's husband, the phone was recovered at a Boost Mobile store the next day. The suspects tried to sell the phone for parts.

Thankfully, the Johnsons had an alert put on the phone that would let anyone know that the phone was stolen and to contact them as soon as it was turned on.

"They've done this before because the phone was turned off immediately," Johnson said. "When it's turned off you can't track it. But, I had it set up so when they did activate the phone or connect to the internet, it would notify me."

The phone thieves are still on the loose.
