MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Black Lives Matter Memphis and Campaign Non-Violence are coming together to send a message of unity in the wake of multiple high-profile officer-involved shootings.

Thursday, a non-violent protest was held at the corner of East Parkway and Poplar Avenue.

The group said they want to create a safe space of support for those grieving after recent police shootings and stand in solidarity with the victims’ families.

Despite violence erupting all across the country, these protesters said they'll be hosting more peaceful protests to have their voices heard and send a strong message that Black Lives Matter.

The group said it is time to move past the conversations and take action.

Friday at 8 p.m., the group will hold a peace and prayer vigil followed by a discussion about current issues the country faces at First Congregational Church in Cooper Young.
