MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Memphis Police Department said a woman has been released and will not be charged in the shooting death of her husband. Investigators said the shooting was justified.

The shooting happened around 6:30 a.m. at a concrete production company, located on Ferrell Park Drive.

Memphis Police Department arrived to find the victim, Williard Green, 36, in critical condition; he later died from his injuries. They said his wife, Valerie White, is the one who shot him.

"It's shocking to hear that," neighbor Michael Askew said. "I didn't know that was her. I grew up here, so I know the family."

White stayed on scene after the shooting.

Witnesses who knew the couple said they were going through some sort of separation.

Court records show that White requested multiple restraining orders against her husband in 2004 and 2005. One of those requests was granted.

Askew said he can't picture White as violent. He said she was always friendly.

"Wonder what could've happened that quick for it to turn that violent," Askew asked.
