MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man was found shot at the Boys and Girls Club located on Tchulahoma Road in Memphis.

Memphis Police Department said they received a call that a shooting occurred in the area. When they arrived, they found one man injured.

Children were inside the building during the shooting, but none of them were injured.

"They told us to go under the seats in the cafeteria and they told the other kids to go to the gym," 8-year-old Rikera Myer said. Myer was inside the Boys and Girls Club when the shooting took place.

Witnesses said they heard multiple gunshots before a car sped away from the area.

"I was sitting out here when I heard about five or six shots, then I saw a car speed off and another young man walking in that direction looking like he was holding something," witness Sheilia Jones said.

Jones said the man may have been holding a gun.

"I saw the kids scattering trying to get inside," she said.

Frightened and panicked parents rushed to get their children and ensure they were safe.

"I was shocked, scared, making sure she was OK," Felicia Walker, Rikera's mother, said. Rikera was safe and OK, but shaken.

"I wasn't scared," Rikera said. "I was nervous."

The father of the victim said his son was going to the Boys and Girls Club to check on his nephew.

Investigators said the person who shot the man is still at large.

The shooting victim is reported to be in non-critical condition.
