The first day of a full week of 2-a-Day practices is in the books for the Memphis Grizzlies.
This training camp, the 16th for the NBA here in the Bluff City, is directed by 6th head coach in Grizzlies History, and the 4th who is a rookie in the job.
David Fizdale has the keys to the Grizzlies future in his hands..but unlike previous first year Griz head coaches, Marc Iavaroni, Lionel Hollins, and Dave Joerger, Fizdale comes in with a championship pedigree, having won two NBA crowns as an assistant with the Miami Heat.
Coach Fiz says that experience helps him navigate through his first training camp as the head man.
"Naw, man, I'm organized" says Coach Fiz. "I can't handle chaos. So I like my things structured and organized and in focus. And we had a very structured and organized practice today, and like I said. my assistant coaches are an extension of me. And at any point, any one of these guys can take over and run a drill. So every guy was held accountable at a high level today and no one slid between the cracks."
It won't be long before we get a glimpse of what Fizdale's first team will look like.
The Grizzlies first pre-season game is coming up Monday night against Orlando at FedEx Forum.
