MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A driver trying to get away from police crashed at the intersection of Chelsea Avenue and Hollywood Street.

Police said a suspect in a traffic stop suddenly drove off and ended up crashing in the intersection.

Crews have finished cleaning up the two bad accidents. The scene stretched out over a block as officials worked to investigate the accident.

Witnesses said they saw the car blow right through a red light at Hollywood and Chelsea after it pulled off from a traffic stop. The car caused two cars to crash by running the light.

According to witnesses, a white truck lost control and slammed into an SUV. The truck then flipped over.

"Drove up right after the crash," Marcus Taylor said. "The car with the green truck was parked and then it got knocked back probably about two or three feet, and then it was knocked back and up on the curb so it had to be tremendous."

Other witnesses said they saw the suspect get out of the car and run away only to collapse shortly thereafter and get arrested by police.

"If you think about it, there were a few casualties as far as vehicles are concerned, but it could have been worse than this if he got farther," Taylor said.

One woman said her 63-year-old mother was in the dark colored SUV and was taken to the hospital with a minor leg injury.

There is no word on the condition of the suspect.
