MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Two clown sightings in Memphis on the same day have parents and students worried.

"I don't understand why a person would do something like that to the children," Brandon Roberts said.

Creepy clown sightings have seemingly taken over the internet throughout the last week. Clowns in dozens of states have forced lockdowns at schools or even been arrested for their actions.

Friday, the clown sightings made their way to Memphis.

A child said he was walking on Dellwood Avenue in Frayser when a clown jumped out and scared him.

Then, just before 9 a.m., a parent said they saw a clown near Alcy Elementary School in South Memphis. The principal immediately put the school on lockdown and called Shelby County Schools security and MPD.

SCS security and MPD officers searched the area, but did not find anything. The school lifted the lockdown without any issues.

After the investigation SCS took to twitter to let lurking clowns know they are not wanted on school property.

Memphis Police Department warned anyone thinking about dressing as a clown and pranking someone to think twice. The department said it will look into all reports of criminal activity.
