MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Seven people contracted Legionnaires' Disease from a Memphis hotel, according to Shelby County Health Department.

More than 6,000 people were exposed to the bacteria between July 1 and September 22 at La Quinta Inn & Suites on Millbranch Road.

SCHD confirmed a seventh case of the disease on Monday.

La Quinta Inn has been closed since September 22. It's unclear when the hotel will reopen.

Many exposed to the disease do not have symptoms, but symptoms could include cough, shortness of breath, high fever, muscle aches, and headaches. Symptoms can last between two and 14 days after exposure.

People who stayed at the inn during the time of exposure should contact SCHD Investigation Hotline at 901-222-9299.
