Memphis Fire Department officials said a body was found in the area of the Wolf River, at James Road and Highland Road. Police blocked the area of Highland off as they investigated what happened to the man that was found underneath the bridge.
Dozens of family and friends of a man who has been missing since Friday were on the scene and waiting patiently to find out what happened to their loved one. Cries and screams echoed through the air as family members arrived on the scene--hoping the body found was not that of their loved one that has been missing for several days.
According to Memphis Police Department, they received a call saying the caller had discovered a body in the woods near the water.
"I've never seen anything like that before in my life," Sherri Hearn said.
Hearn said she was on the scene before police after family members received a call that her loved one's body was under the bridge. She said she saw her daughter's 27-year-old boyfriend with his hands tied behind his back.
"I seen him," Hearn said. "He didn't deserve that."
She said her family had been searching for the man since Friday after he didn't answer his phone and his car was found.
"I had been calling him and he hadn't been calling me back, and I started worrying myself," she said.
Now, she said she wants to know why someone killed the man she considered her son and a great father to two and step-father to two others.
"She has two children from a previous relationship, and he treated those kids as though they were his," Hearn said. "He loved my daughter and he loved them kids."
