Grizzlies win first preseason game under new coach David Fizdale

MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

The curtain went up on the 2016 Memphis Grizzlies on Monday night.

The team's sixteenth season in the Bluff City opened with preseason action against the Orlando Magic at FedExForum.

All of the old look core four was on the floor minus Tony Allen, who was out with a little ding, no biggie. Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, Mike Conley though, all in action.

Grizzlies showcased their trademark defense by coming up with 11 steals for new head coach David Fizdale.

Gasol got into double figures with 10 points in 13 minutes.

Rookie first round draft pick Wade Baldwin out of Vanderbilt leads the Grizz with 15 points on 5 of 5 from the floor including a 3 pointer.

Backup point guard Andrew Harrison tallied 11 points and 6 assists.

Mike Conley had 10 points in 17 minutes to go along with 2 steals and 2 assists.

Former Memphis Tigers star D.J. Stephens came off the bench and supplied the team with 8 points and 5 rebounds including 3 monster dunks.

Grizzlies get the win 102-97. The Grizzlies next preseason game is at home Thursday night against the Atlanta Hawks at FedExForum.
