The people responsible for killing Brandon Byers are still on the loose.

Bold and ruthless gunmen not only shot and killed him, but did so in front of his children just to get their hands on a TV and video game system.

His death may have been homicide 123 in the city of Memphis, but to his family he was more than a number.

"They took a person who meant so much in all of our lives," widow Shakeeria Byers said.

Byers was a father, husband, and protector.

"Watching their dad fight two guys and the third guy came and shot him."

Byers said her husband died protecting his family on July 12.

She said when the couple returned home from an appointment, they noticed their front door kicked in, intruders inside the home, and their kids hiding in the upstairs bedroom.

She said Byers went into action and fought the intruders, but was shot and killed.

"I ran and heard three gunshots," she said.

The gunmen got away with a TV and video game system and left Byers dead.

A vigil was held for him days later and candles from that vigil are still at the home where he was killed. Byers said she wants justice for her husband, but also wants closure for his kids who watched as their father took his last breaths.

"I want someone to do the right thing and just call the police," she said.

Now, almost three months to the day of the murder, this widow has a message for anyone who has information.

"You can't live forever knowing you did something like this, and knowing you know a person who did this," she said.

Police said there is no update on this case.

Byers is asking for anyone with information to call police. There is also a $1,000 reward through Crime Stoppers for any information leading to an arrest.
