OXFORD, MS (WMC) -

An Ole Miss student's Facebook post comment caused quite the outrage after he posted about those who were protesting the killing of a black man by Charlotte Police Officers.

Jordan Samson's comment about lynching people caused protests on campus in September. Samson's post said "I have a tree with enough room for all of them if you want to settle this Wild West style."

The comment came after Ole Miss student Andrew Soper posted a video of Charlotte protests on Facebook.

Now, Samson issued an apology and has withdrawn from the university.

Protesters on campus called for Samson's expulsion from the university and said his comments did not accurately reflect Ole Miss.

Samson wrote that he's deeply sorry for a "lapse of judgment," and said he doesn't want this incident to define him.

The chancellor condemned the Facebook post as "racist, offensive, and hurtful."
