MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

After a tough battle with Ole Miss, Memphis is hoping to rebound despite a short break, as they take on Temple in a nationally-televised Thursday night bout.

The Tigers take their 3-1 record into American Athletic Conference play against the 3-2 Owls at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium. Despite last week’s loss, fans took to Tiger Lane early to tailgate Thursday.

Perhaps the most elaborate tailgate belonged to the Michaels.

"We're going to start early and be here until the end,” Pam Michael said.

They have plenty of Tigers logos spread across the tailgate, a TV, and catering from Central BBQ.

While Tiger Lane was not as full as a weekend game, some used a personal note from head coach Mike Norvell to escape work early for “Tiger Football Fever.”

Pam Michael is one dedicated fan who used the note.

"We got an excuse; we got a note from Norvell,” she said. “He sent it out and you give it to your employer and they let you off."

She wasn’t going to miss this game. Her son, Evan Michael, is a Christian Brothers alum and now a redshirt junior on the team. He’s the holder for all the extra points and field goals, which can get Pam nervous in the stands.

"Very nervous! Jake (Elliott) is awesome, but that anticipation; I love it though,” she said.

Fans still have plenty to look forward to this season. The game kicks off at 7 p.m. on ESPN.
