MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

A man is in jail a week after his daughter apparently claimed to be the driver in a deadly crash.

Police said the crash happened on Woodstock Cuba Road and Little John Road. Shelby County Sheriff’s Office officials said 53-year-old Bruce Kingdon was pronounced dead on the scene. His passenger, 43-year-old Cassie Kingdon, was flown to the hospital in critical condition.

Elixabeth Blackwood was charged with not giving information or rendering aid, leaving the scene of an accident involving death or injury, not notifying emergency personnel of an accident, and for not having lights on the trailer.

Elixabeth later took to Facebook to apologize and said she covered for her father.

Now her father, Felix Blackwood, is in jail. Blackwood has a lengthy criminal history that includes 12 driving offenses, including four DUIs.

According to the affidavit, Blackwood coerced his daughter into telling police that she was the driver, knowing that Felix would go back to jail if he was driving.

Felix is charged with driving on a suspended/revoked license, two counts of duty to give information and render aid, two counts of failure to yield pulling out of a private driveway, two counts of failure to file an accident report, two counts leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, two counts of vehicular homicide, and two counts of violation of light law.
