MEMPHIS, TN (WMC) -

Editorial by Tracey Rogers, Vice President and General Manager of WMC Action News 5:

Rickie Nelson has several people to thank for his life.

Nelson was driving westbound on Sam Cooper Boulevard when his car overturned and caught fire.

Nelson wasn't hurt, but he needed help getting out of his car.

Several people jumped into action to make sure Nelson got to safety before the car burst into flames.

Among those people were White Station High School Senior Roland Williams III and Chris Altrock, a preacher at Highland Church of Christ.

Without a thought for their own safety, they jumped right in to get Nelson away from the car.

That's the thing about being in the Mid-South - people help people.

If you know of someone deserving recognition for going above and beyond the call of duty, email me at abettermidsouth@wmctv.com, or post on my Facebook page, A Better Mid-South.

Thank you Roland Williams and Chris Altrock…you both make this A Better Mid-South.
