LAUDERDALE CO., TN (WMC) -

Thirty-nine people face criminal charges following a nine-month undercover investigation, according to District Attorney General Michael Dunavant.

A drug task force spent more than half a year investigating illegal drug activity in Lauderdale County. The 25th Judicial District Drug Task Force recently announced arrests from Operation 100.

Those arrests include 39 people who investigators said performed drug sales near schools, day cares, parks, and libraries.

The drug transactions included marijuana, cocaine, oxycontin, meth, and more.

One of the suspects arrested in the undercover sting was a police officer for Ripley Police Department. Investigators said he committed various drug violations while being employed as an officer.

All 39 defendants are expected to face trial in February 2017.

“These cases demonstrate the tireless efforts and commitment of the 25th Judicial District Drug Task Force to use all available investigative and prosecutorial resources to target those people who are selling and distributing dangerous illegal substances in our communities. We look forward to presenting these cases to the court in order to hold these felony drug offenders accountable and to achieve justice for the citizens of Lauderdale County who are all plagued by the devastating effects of illegal drugs in their community,"  Dunavant said.
